Day
Camps Our flexible scheduling
allows every parent to give his or her child this exciting and
enriching camp experience!
"Day Camp" Ages 3 -9
The Summer Hill camp
setting needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. In addition to our
own pools, sports fields, playground, basketball court and indoor
facilities, we have the unparalleled opportunity to incorporate the
hundreds of acres of Monmouth County Park facilities, which lie
adjacent to us. Marked nature trails, streams (known for their shark
tooth fossils) meadows, County playgrounds, fishing ponds, and a
fitness course are all within a minutes walk.
Skilled staff
members, who creatively challenge each child to seek his or her own
greatest potential while emphasizing cooperation and fair play,
supervise Summer Hill's activities. We have created a unique camp
experience which maximizes the joy of physical exertion and physical
accomplishment, while supporting and encouraging the primary age
child's natural curiosity about the world and its people.
Activities include: swimming lessons and free swim, sports,
computer, performing arts, indoor and outdoor games, and arts and
crafts, indoor and outdoor games. We offer chess instruction to any
child interested, and our chess Championship has become a favorite
among many of our campers. Our dance and drama program is especially
noteworthy and the Summer Hill End of Year Show is a huge hit
with campers and parents alike.
Friday is our Special Events
Day. We offer a variety of special activities such as pony and
horseback rides, giant slide, carnival day, field day, career day
(where parents and community workers demonstrate their special
talents), frontier day, etc.
Our first and primary goal is to
provide a Fun-Filled summer for every child. However, some
"academic" skills will be intermingled with games and activities in
such a way that your child (maybe for the first time) will be having
so much fun they will not notice they are learning.
Pre-School Afraid your child might be too young
for camp?
Pre-School is our
specialty. Our staff are caring and experienced with pre-school
children. Our environment is well suited for the younger
camper. Our pre-school, kindergarten and afternoon enrichment
programs are well know for academic and programmatic excellence.
Now we are offering a summer program which provides ongoing and
diversified activities to further enhance your child's development.
Swimming Program
All pool staff are Red
Cross trained and provide expert instruction and supervision.
Swim lessons are individualized to provide support and
encouragement to even the most hesitant child. In addition to
swimming skills, children are taught water safety procedures.
2 heated pools on
the premises!
Is your child bored with recreation camps? Does he or she
consider themselves "too old" for camp? Do you need a safe, exciting
and age appropriate Summer Program for your older child?
WE HAVE THE ANSWER...
Traveling Camps Ages 9-13
 Explorers: Age 9-10: The Explorers
will participate in a wide range of day camp activities and in
addition they will attend weekly outings into the community. The
vast majority of their week will involve our regular sports, crafts,
swimming, and performing arts program. We will, however, incorporate
weekly off grounds structured activities including movies, bowling
and Monmouth County Park System Programs.
During these
well-supervised outings we will emphasize safety procedures and
appropriate behavior, thus preparing the camper for their
ever-expanding role in the community.
On The Move (OTM) 11-13: Our On The Move (OTM) campers
will be off grounds 3-4 days a week exploring exciting, interesting
sights and engaging in a wide variety of community based, fun filled
activities. Bowling, water park, Blue Claws game, fishing, hiking,
trips to parks, museums, laser tag, Funtime America, Black Beard's
Cave, canoeing, kayaking are just a few
of the events normally scheduled.
When at Summer Hill, OTM
campers will have access to our pools and will also have the
opportunity to take First Aid and CPR training. They will
participate in the Day Camp's special events such as our Carnival,
Field Day, and End of the Year Show. However the majority of their
week will be spent off grounds.
WE BELIEVE THESE PROGRAM
OPTIONS PROVIDE THE STRUCTURE THE CAMPERS NEED WHILE ALSO ADDRESSING
THE OLDER CAMPERS NATURAL CURIOSITY AND DESIRE TO EXPAND THEIR
HORIZONS.
Counselor In Training (CIT) 13-16: Many of our staff
started out as campers. Older campers who demonstrate good attitude,
judgment, and a willingness to help others may be eligible to
participate in our training program with reduced camp fees and an
opportunity for employment when age appropriate. (Ask for our CIT
fact sheet)
We are a small highly individualized program.
