Camp Summer Hill
Parent Information
Thank you for choosing Camp
Summer Hill for your child's Summer Program. The following is important
information and we have some changes for the last year. Please take a few
minutes to read this carefully and print out and save for future
reference.
Drop Off / Pick
Up Please drive to the entrance gate where a
counselor will greet your child and assist him/her in exiting your
vehicle. A counselor will be at the front gate from 7:45 a.m. to
9:15 a.m. Remember, child care must be prearranged and there is a
$15 charge for early and late pick-up (before 8:45 and after 3:15).
Never drop off your child unless a counselor is waiting at the
gate and signs your child in!!! If you are late with drop off
and no counselor is waiting, please park and accompany your child
to the office.
If you cannot arrange to pick up your child before 5:30 p.m., we
will be unable to accommodate you at Summer Hill. Counselors are
scheduled to leave promptly at 5:30. There is a dollar per minute
per child fee for any time after 5:30 pm.
Please be sure to complete the Transportation Form. If your child
needs to be picked up early or by a friend or relative not listed on
your Transportation form, please send written notice and call the
director. This is for your child's protection. We will not release
your child to anyone without your specific instructions.
If you wish to talk to the counselors about your child's day or
any problem or concerns, please park and join us at the gate. It is
difficult to have a conversation while your car is in the pick up or
drop off line. We have attempted to make drop off and pick up as
safe and convenient as possible and appreciate your cooperation.
Equipment and Valuables Summer
Hill cannot be responsible for valuables, and items frequently get
lost or misplaced, so please leave all valuables and good clothing
at home. (If you're not willing to "lose" your game boy, please
do not bring them to camp). No special camp equipment is necessary
other than a bathing suit (we recommend fast drying lycra or nylon
competitive swim wear), towel and SNEAKERS. Sandals, Crocs, and flip-flops
can be dangerous for sports activities and hikes. Please make sure
children wear sneakers daily. Please label all clothing and towels.
A camp bag will be provided on the first day of camp. Please send a
water bottle daily (be sure to label).
Emergency Information and Immunization
Records For your child's protection, all medical
forms must be completed and on file in order for your child to
attend camp. These forms must be reviewed by our nursing staff,
copied and distributed to the appropriate group leaders. Therefore,
we ask that the medical form be returned with the registration. NO
CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED TO BEGIN CAMP WITHOUT A COMPLETED MEDICAL
FORM ON FILE.
Off Campus Trips All activities
off campus require a permission slip. This includes walks through
the park. Our older campers (age 7 and older) may take bus trips to
bowling or indoor miniature golf, etc., if we have continuous days
of inclement weather. We therefore request that all parents sign the
enclosed permission slips. Our transportation is handled by Laidlaw
bus company. Additionally, On The Move Campers need Monmouth County
Park Release forms signed. Please let us know if you have not
received one.
Lunches Please place your
child's lunch in insulated packaging. We do not have cooking or
refrigeration available. We ask that you DO NOT SEND GLASS OF ANY
KIND.
All children will receive an ice cream or popsicle treat daily.
Additionally, pre-school campers (only) will receive a snack of
juice and pretzels or animal crackers, etc. Please note on your
registration form if you DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD TO RECEIVE THIS.
Extended care children will be given a snack time at 3:00 p.m. If
your child is staying until 5 p.m. or after, we suggest you pack an
additional snack.
TICK
Alert Information about Lyme disease should be
of concern to all families. We are aware of the problem and suggest
you check your children daily and have them bathe and wash clothing
immediately upon returning from camp. Know the symptoms and get
early treatment.
Medications
Children cannot have medications of any kind in their possession.
There are Department of Health medication dispensing protocols (even
for over the counter medications) which must be followed. If your
child needs to take medication while at the camp, please note this
on your registration form and speak to the Director for release
forms and procedures. The staff at the gate are not permitted to
accept medications. Please come to the office for assistance.
Fee
Balance Final payment on ALL camp
balances is due April 1st, regardless of when your child is
scheduled to attend camp. Without final payment we cannot guarantee
a space for your child. After April 1st, registration is on a
first come, first serve basis. No one will be registered
without payment in full. Last year we were not able to accommodate
everyone who wished to register, so we adhere to this policy.
No further reminders will be sent out. WE DO NOT WANT TO
DISAPPOINT ANYONE, SO PLEASE REMEMBER THE APRIL 1ST DEADLINE. ALL
FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Behavior Participation in any Summer
Hill activity (especially off grounds) will be dependant on the
camper's ability to follow all safety procedures, and to be
respectful of other campers, staff, community workers, and the
environment. Please instruct your children that repeated failure to
demonstrate appropriate behavior may result in expulsion from the
program and forfeiture of fees.
