School Programs
Parent Information
Arrival
Please drive to the entrance
door where the teacher will greet your child and assist him or her
in exiting your vehicle. The teacher will be at the front gate
promptly at 8:50. Please do not drop off your children prior to this
time, unless registered for extended hours.
Dismissal
Each parent will be
given a name card to place in your car window. At dismissal the
parent is to drive up to the gate, remain in your car, and your
child will be escorted to you. Please arrive promptly. Your child
will be awaiting your arrival and even 15 minutes can seem an
extensive wait when you are four years old.
Full Day Students
1. Nap: Please
send in a blanket for rest time.
2. Lunches: Lunches and drinks
should be sent in daily. Please avoid glass containers. A microwave
oven is available for reheating.
3. Departure: Parents picking up
after 3:00 pm need to come into school to sign children out. Please
remember that we close promptly at 5:30 pm.
Orientation
New students
will receive notification of their orientation appointments via
postcard in late August.
Medical Records
All students
must have a health form on file for Summer Hill. Please complete and
return prior to September 1st.
Clothing
Learning involves free
exploration which can be messy, therefore you may want to dress your
child in play clothes. We suggest clothes that children can put on
themselves; such as slacks with elastic waist band (if they cannot
manage buttons and zippers yet). Weather permitting, sneakers should
be worn at all times so children can safely participate in all
movement activities. Dress shoes are not appropriate for school. The
children will utilize the outdoor environment, so please dress your
child appropriately. If they are too ill for fresh air, they should
probably not be in school.
Birthdays / Holidays
Please DO
NOT send in cake, candy or other sweets at anytime. We will not
distribute these to the children, as these items are contrary to our
nutritional stance. We have a special way of acknowledging your
child's birthday and believe family celebrations should be seperate
from school.
Snacks
Nutritious snacks of
juice, fruits, vegetables, etc., will be provided throughout the
day.
Drop In
We welcome parents
visits. However, please give the children several weeks to adjust to
their new environment before requesting to observe. Our environment
has not been designed for the safe use of children under the age of
2½. Therefore, we ask that you please leave young siblings at home
when visiting. Parent conferences will be scheduled during the month
of February, and as needed in May.
Payments
Please submit your
tuition payment on the 1st of each month.
Reminders: Payment number two (2) is due September 1st before the
start of school. We will enforce the $15.00 late fee and returned
check fee. Absolutely no refunds will be offered for illness,
vacations, etc. We must pay salaries even when your child is not in
class.
Snow or Ice Conditions
To avoid
becoming stuck on driveway incline during icy or snowy conditions,
stop at bottom of incline until circle is clear, then proceed up to
the gate.
Emergency Closings
Emergency
closings will be announced on WADB (1310 AM) and WJLK (94.3 FM).
A visual announcement will also be posted on
Channel 12 and
943thepoint.com and news12.com. Please try to avoid calling the school. One hundred extra calls on a
snowy day are difficult for us to handle! |
